Joleen Wrist Warmers - Free Crochet Pattern

CROCHET YOUR OWN JOLEEN WRIST WARMERS

Winter means cozy and one of the first things my daughters and I reach for are our wrist warmers. I have always loved the stitch pattern of my Joleen Beanie and I knew I wanted to make some matching wrist warmers. These are so fun and quick to make, I know you will enjoy making some for yourself or someone special in your life.

MATERIALS:
  • H/8 (5mm) Crochet Hook
  • #4 Worsted Weight
  • Scissors
  • Yarn Needle

KEY:
CH: chain
St(s): stitch(es)
Sl St: slip stitch
SC: single crochet
HDC: half double crochet
DC: double crochet

GAUGE: 7HDC x 5 Rows= 2 Inch Square
Create a 2 inch by 2 inch swatch square using HDC, working your rows in the back loop. Your swatch should be 7 stitches wide by 5 rows tall. If your swatch does not match this, you will want to use a different size hook. Use a smaller hook if your swatch is bigger than mine or a larger hook if it is smaller than mine. Just letting you know, I do crochet pretty tight.

YARN NOTES:
The yarn is used in my examples was I Love This Yarn by Hobby Lobby.

HELPFUL NOTES:
Third Loop: To locate the third loop, find your front and back loops. Now take a look behind the back loop on the back side of the stitch.  You should see a loop running almost parallel to the back loop – you’ve found the third loop! Working in the third loops keeps the front and back loops unworked and pushes them to the front.
Joining: For this pattern you will not count your beginning chain as a stitch. Join with a Sl St to the first stitch (front and back loops) of every round. Always be sure to work the first stitch of every round into the first stitch of the previous round (which will be the same stitch that you joined).
Construction: These gloves will be made from the bottom up, starting with the ribbing.
Sizing: Pattern is written to fit three sizes, Toddler, Child, Adult. When following instructions, sizing is noted as follows: T/C/A
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Jonathan, Crochet, & Pikachu

Today would have been Jonathan's 27th birthday, my little brother, but sadly, he is not here with us anymore. On April 18, 2015 he past way from kidney failure due to improper care of diabetes. He wasn't quite 25. He had so much life yet to live but I guess it was time for him to go. When we were kids he was my best little buddy, we would listen to rock music, he introduced me to Disturbed and System of a Down, and he tried to get me to like the screaming music he called metal. I never understood his love of the pig squeal but he sure did. He was also the one that I knew would go with me to see the new, weird independent films that came out. I never did get to take him to Sundance, he would have enjoyed that, but we did have some great discussions about movies and actors. And then when I was 21 I moved to Arkansas and left my sister and brother behind and I started a new life with my husband so Jonathan's and my relationship changed. He was still always there to ta

Crocheted Barefoot Sandals

A few weeks ago one of my fellow crafting mommas saw some very pretty crocheted sandals that she wanted to recreate, and she was able to! She had never written a pattern before so instead she made a YouTube video.  I translated the video into a written pattern for your enjoyment. I take no credit in this pattern, it was designed by Adrienne Davis, I just followed what she said and wrote it in American Crochet terms that we can all follow. Here is the written pattern for Adrienne's Crochet Barefoot Sandals. I hope you enjoy!
